
Police Services Board Awards
BRAMPTON, ON, April 23 /CNW/ - The Regional Municipality of Peel Police Services Board will recognize the outstanding efforts of 8 civilians and 52 officers on Tuesday, April 23rd, 2002, at the annual Board Award Ceremonies. The ceremony will take place at the Mississauga Convention Centre, 75 Derry Road West, Mississauga, at 7:00 p.m. Members of the Police Services Board and Chief Noel P. Catney will present Civilian Citations, Police Commendations, the Knights of Columbus Humanitarian Award, Detective Robert Boyne Memorial Award, Constable Dwayne Piukkala Memorial Award, Inspector Frank Fernandes Memorial Award and News Media Awards.
CIVILIAN CITATIONS
These Citations are presented to citizens who have rendered unselfish assistance to the Peel Regional Police or demonstrated a unique concern for the safety and well being of the community. The action or assistance given by these citizens is considered outstanding and above a normal civic responsibility.
POLICE COMMENDATIONS
These Commendations are presented to Officers who have performed a most outstanding service, made a significant contribution to this Police Service or community, or demonstrated continued excellence in the performance of their duties and dedication to the Peel Regional Police.
KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS HUMANITARIAN AWARD
This award is presented to a member of this Police Service, who have made exemplary contributions of service to the community. It is presented annually to an officer selected by the Chief's Management Group.

DETECTIVE ROBERT BOYNE MEMORIAL AWARD
This award is presented to a member of this Police Service, or to a resident of the Region of Peel, who has demonstrated exceptional initiative and commitment to the concept of crime prevention, an ideal which is highly valued by this Police Service.
Constable Henri Berube
CONSTABLE DWAYNE PIUKKALA MEMORIAL AWARD
This award is designed to honour an officer with no more than five years experience, in recognition of an exemplary deed and/or continued excellence in the police field, demonstrating qualities and potential so highly valued by the Peel Regional Police.
Constable Ian Hazell
INSPECTOR FRANK FERNANDES MEMORIAL AWARD
This is a highly selective award presented to a member of the Peel Regional Police who has demonstrated extraordinary competence in the field of scene and crime investigation; commitment beyond the call of duty; persistence in all matters to seek out the truth for justice to be served; and, dedication to the field of collection, preservation, preparation and presentation of physical evidence.

MEDIA AWARDS
