Cheryl Jamieson

Cheryl JamiesonMs. Cheryl Jamieson was appointed to the Regional Municipality of Peel Police Services Board by the provincial government on December 15, 2004 and was re-appointed for a second term in December 2006.

Ms. Jamieson is well known within the police community having served as a Director with the Ontario Association of Police Services Board since May 2005. In May 2009, she became the first member of the Peel Board to be elected President of the OAPSB, representing over 110 police services boards on matters of provincial interest. A confident speaker on issues of relevance to the policing community, Ms. Jamieson has brought both local and provincial resolutions to the attention of the Minister of Community Safety and Correctional Services.

A long time resident of the City of Brampton, Ms. Jamieson is an active member of the community, having participated and served with a number of groups, including the Brampton Safe City Committee, the Adult Injury Prevention Network, the Brampton Safe City Council and the Partnership Towards Safer Communities Committee. In 2005 Ms. Jamieson was chosen as the recipient of the Brampton Safe City “Local Hero Award”.

Ms. Jamieson is currently employed with the Region of Peel as the Emergency Management Specialist and facilitates emergency training to Regional staff and stakeholders. In addition, she is a motivational speaker on Personal Preparedness to numerous business, community and school groups. She has successfully completed the Associate Business Continuity Professional (ABCP) certification and currently serves as an advisor on the Region of Peel Business Continuity project.

Prior to her employment with the Region of Peel, Ms. Jamieson spent 22 years with the Canadian Red Cross. She continues as a Disaster and Emergency Services Volunteer with the Red Cross, and in 2005 spent 21 days working for the Red Cross in areas ravaged by Hurricane Katrina. Ms. Jamieson has passionately presented her experience in southern Mississippi and includes in her message a strategy for success in responding to everyday challenges.
