(JIM) MURRAY
James Murray, a Mississauga businessman renowned for his community involvement, was re-appointed to the Regional Municipality of Peel Police Services Board for a further three years in April 2006. Mr. Murray, currently Vice Chair, has served on the Board for over a decade, having been first appointed in July 1997.
Mr. Murray was awarded the Gordon S. Shipp Memorial Award in 1996 as Mississauga’s ‘Citizen of the Year’, and received the Order of Ontario in 2004. He currently sits on the Boards of Sheridan College, Peel Children’s Aid Society and Credit Valley Hospital. He has served on the Board of Directors of the Ontario Association of Police Services Boards, as well as the Mississauga Living Arts Centre, and was a founding member of the Peel Regional Housing Authority. He continues as a fundraiser for a number of worthwhile projects including the Peel Museum and the Living Arts Centre.
Mr. Murray began in the real estate industry in 1968. He went from owning his own successful firm to his current position as Senior Vice-President and Managing Director of the Industrial/Land Division with J.J. Barnicke Limited, one of Canada’s largest commercial real estate companies. In this position, he is involved with a number of clients, structuring creative solutions to difficult real estate challenges.
