Speaker Event - Ms. Karyn McCluskey

On Monday, August 12th, 2013 Peel Regional Police Services Board hosted guest speaker Ms. Karyn McCluskey, who is the Director in the Violence Reduction Unit in Strathclyde Police in Scotland. The event, which was held at the Mississauga Convention Centre, was attended by members of PRP and politicians from every level of government, including Mississauga Mayor Hazel McCallion and Brampton Mayor Susan Fennell.

In 2005, Strathclyde Police established the Violence Reduction Unit to target all forms of violent behaviour, in particular knife crime and weapon carrying among young men in and around Glasgow. Karyn passionately spoke about the role that every agency and organization has in reducing violence in our community. This includes area politicians, health services, police, social services, housing, Boards of Education, Safe City Associations and many more.
